Más de 300 personas de 27 países se congregaron en la Law Society de Londres el 7 y el 8 de marzo próximo pasados para escuchar el poderoso testimonio de 20 testigos expertos sobre el caso de los Cinco Cubanos y asistir a las otras actividades programadas.

Además de los dos días de escucha de la Comisión, hubo eventos asociados incluyendo reuniones con parlamentarios, concierto internacional y una cena de cierre.
Tres Comisionados, presidieron más de seis sesiones, escucharon las evidencias de victimas del terrorismo en Cuba, a familiares de los cinco, expertos legales de los EEUU y miembros del equipo de la defensa y a Amnistía Internacional. Las Conclusiones Preliminares de los Comisionados (pueden leerse aqui) y su reporte final será publicado en Voces por los Cinco (Voices for the Five) en unas pocas semanas.

La noche finalizó con un fabuloso e inesperado "Guantanamera" y que vió a miles de pie, bailando y cantando junto con Omara Portuondo las palabras "Volverán" cuando bajaba del escenario (Omara Portuondo canta "Volveran").
El fin de semana terminó con una comida en la Casa del Congreso, que fue dirigida por lideres de la unión de comercio británico y también por René González via un discurso previamente grabado (discurso).

More than 2,000 people attended the International Commission of Inquiry and associated events for the Cuban Five in London earlier this month. Full reports, photosand films will be available soon, but in the meantime here are some of the highlights.
As well as two days of Commission hearings, associated events included aparliamentary meeting, international concert and closing dinner.

René González was due to be a key witness but was denied a visa on the day he wasdue to fly from Havana by the British government. Despite this further injustice Renéwas able to give his testimony to the Commission via Skype and received a standingovation from delegates in the hall when he appeared on the screen.
Three Commissioners presided over six sessions which heard compelling evidence fromCuban victims of terrorism, the families of the five, US legal experts and members of the defense team, and Amnesty International. The Commissioners’ PreliminaryConclusions can be read here, and their final report will be published on the Voices for the Five site within a few weeks.
Voices for Cuba Concert and associated events
As well as the central events of the Commission hearings there were a number of other important activities including a parliamentary meeting, concert and closing meal.
Almost 2,000 people attended a spectacular concert at the Barbican Centre on Fridayevening featuring stars of the Buena Vista Social Club Eliades Ochoa and Omara Portuondo , Omar Puente’s Cuban jazz quintet, and spoken word from US author Alice Walker and ten British stars of stage and screen. Standing in for her father, Irmita,daughter of René González, moved many in the audience to tears with an emotionalspeech.
The evening ended with a fabulous and impromptu rendition of the beautiful Cubananthem ‘Guantanamera’ which saw thousands standing, dancing and singing along asOmara Portuondo sang the words "Volveran" and "They will return" as she left thestage.
The weekend ended with a closing meal at Congress House, which was addressed byBritish trade union leaders, and also by René González via a specially prerecordedmessage for the event.
